Gaza: Gaza’s civil defence agency has warned that its emergency vehicles could run out of fuel and stop working “within the next few days.” The agency posted on its official Telegram channel that its rescue teams face an urgent shortage and appealed for outside help to keep life‑saving operations running.
The warning came on April 18, 2025, in the heart of the Gaza Strip, where civil defence crews respond to bombardments, fires and building collapses. Without fuel, fire trucks and ambulances will be unable to reach civilians in danger, leaving thousands without rescue or medical aid.
Since early March, Israeli authorities have blocked all fuel, food and medicine from entering Gaza. The civil defence called on Israel to allow “sufficient quantities of fuel” into the territory so that its vehicles can continue their work. Medical facilities and aid groups are also running low on generators and transport, worsening the humanitarian crisis.
Israel says the blockade will stay in place until Hamas frees the remaining Israeli captives held in Gaza. This fuel ban adds to the hardships faced by Gaza’s 2.4 million people, who are already coping with water cuts, blackouts and shortages of essential supplies amid ongoing hostilities.
